Dawn of a New Day was a lot like the Rocky movie series, but for computer nerds! It took place during the home video wars in Japan. Our Hero, Kagaya, a simply and shy engineer was thrust unwillingly into the role of supervisor for a whole divsion. That divison was in charge of designing video players for businesses, and failing miserabley. Inspired by his wife, Kagaya took a risk and began developements on a home video system or VHS. Despite constant pressure from his superiors and inferior technology, Kagaya pushed on. Eventually, Kagaya's VHS would overthrow Sony's Betamax and set the standard for Japan!
The Movie was very enjoyable, it had a longshot underdog with his back against the wall facing not only a huge corporation, but also the doubts of his fellow coworks and even his family. Now, we all knew the the VHS would win out, but it is always inspireing to see someone succeed at what they are passionate about. I give it one thumb up (it could have used more explosions).
