Dawn of a New Day--overall, this is a great movie that illustrated many different and important aspects in life, which includes overcoming adversaries, the importance of family and support, and efficiency in the workforce. The emotions invoked by all characters in this movie was amazing; their devotion and passion to their company also emphasizes its importance and reflects the Japanese culture. One of the main things in this movie that probably grabbed the attention of its viewers is the struggles and hardships Kagaya (Toshiyuki Nishida) overcame that led to his success of creating VHS in the end.
The movie started out slow with Kagaya, a current engineer/technician with no college degree, who is asked to manage a company that was in the process of bankruptcy. He is later introduced to Ken Watanabe, who aids in the progression of VHS. After ordered to cut the workforce by twenty percent, Kagaya decides to reject this and re-structures his company and re-organizes the positions of his employees. His passion and drive to create his home video system eventually succeeds after countless trials and errors. He is later rejected by many executives to develop a unified marketing and product development system until he finally addresses the top management of Sony. At the end of the movie, he is thanked by all his employees for his determination and a dream come true!
I really liked this movie--I think it can be applied to a lot of different life situations, where drive and determination plays an important role.
